CardFS Features

-
Consistent and complete OPIE environment
-
CardFS ROMs ship with a full OPIE installation
with about 80% of all Opie apps found in the official feeds (games excluded). Check out the screenshots I've made from a CardFS ROM right after the installation.
Yep, it's true. You are looking at a default install :)
SD cards are mounted "async" for better performance
- Stock OZ ROMs mount your SD card with the "sync" option. It insures maximum safety of your Data on the card but reduces performance greatly. CardFS ROMs always mount your card "async" to reduce application start-up times.
Filesystem check on boot for ext2 cards
- Your SD card is checked on boot for errors in the filesystem. Currently this only works for ext2 cards. The card is not checked upon insertion, but only during the boot process.
The system date and time is set to the compilation date
- During the first boot (or after a reset), the date and time of your PDA is set to the moment the ROM finished compiling. Some people asked for this feature, so here it is :)
mhbackup.sh can backup your network settings to your SD card
- The mhbackup.sh script is able to backup any file on your PDA to SD. If you flash another CardFS ROM, you'll be prompted to restore the backup. Currently it backups your network settings, your SSH host and /root keys and your ipkg.conf. And its own configuration of course :) Edit /etc/mhbackup for custom files or directories.
IPKG server information is stored in RAM
- IPKG's "list" files which contain the packages available from your configured feed servers are stored in system RAM to prevent filling up your root-fs (/). By editing /etc/hutils.conf you can move the "list" directory anywhere you want.
CardFS ROMs support /root on SD
- If you have your /root folder on SD, you are prompted after installation if you would like to use this folder as /root. Say yes to the prompt and the rest will be done automatically.
